[Remote] Senior Cloud Engineer

They are seeking a hands-on Senior Cloud Engineer to join their Data & Insights organization, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure while collaborating with engineering teams to enhance operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud infrastructure
- Design, develop, and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and related DevOps tooling
- Implement least-privilege security models using IAM roles and policies
- Support vulnerability remediation and cloud security initiatives
- Partner with engineering teams to improve deployment reliability and developer productivity
- Troubleshooting of database and infrastructure issues on services you provide
- Provide input into the design, development and implementation of automation and tooling for data engineering teams to achieve their goals
- Disaster Recovery planning, testing and execution in combination with engineering teams
- Share knowledge and skills with other team members
Skills
- 5+ years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering experience supporting enterprise-scale environments
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional certification required
- Strong experience designing and supporting AWS infrastructure
- Experience supporting production cloud environments and participating in incident management and on-call rotations
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages
- Experience supporting Linux and Windows-based cloud environments
- Excellent troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of Database Technologies & Architectures such as SQL Server, Redshift or PostgreSQL
- Strong understanding of techniques and strategies for maintaining high availability
- Strong experience in automated deployment of infrastructure and applications
- Experienced in collaborative development – performing code reviews and automating via deployment pipelines, such as Jenkins, Gitlab CI or AWS CodePipeline
- Good networking skills; route tables, Firewalls & understanding load balancing technologies
- Good knowledge of log, monitoring and alerting platforms such as AWS CloudWatch, Spotlight, ELK, Prometheus
- Good understanding of Security and Compliance challenges and how to reduce scope and increase protection – we deal with PCI, SOX and GDPR on some of our systems
- Technical writing skills for documenting environments and procedures
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and resolution skills
- Passionate about automation and tooling
- Databricks administration or platform support experience
- Kubernetes (EKS) administration and operations experience
- Experience supporting Spark-based data platforms
- Experience with Airflow or workflow orchestration platforms
- Knowledge of data lake architectures and analytics platforms
- Experience supporting regulated environments (SOX, PCI, GDPR)
