[Remote] Legal Counsel - Product - Remote

They are seeking a Legal Counsel focused on Product & Commercialization to provide legal guidance throughout the product lifecycle, collaborating with various teams to advise on legal and regulatory matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide proactive, business-focused legal advice to internal clients, focusing on new software products and features – from concept through launch
- Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including SaaS, license, OEM, professional services, data privacy, reseller, distributor, confidentiality, and other agreements
- Deliver practical and creative solutions under tight timelines, balancing legal risk with business needs, and ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, data security, and privacy requirements
- Partner closely with product management, engineering, and business teams to build deep understanding of our products, technologies, and cloud services
- Support the organization through commercial cycles, including quarter-end and year-end priorities
Skills
- Law degree (LL.B. or equivalent)
- Active license to practice law in good standing in at least one US / Canadian jurisdiction
- 5+ years of experience as a Legal Counsel or a similar in-house role
- Experience in a software / tech company, with a focus on commercial agreements, SaaS, and data privacy
- Experience in providing legal advice for Product Management teams in various matters such as data privacy and product features
- Experience working on seller-side commercial agreements, including drafting, negotiating commercial agreements and advising (buyer-side experience is not relevant for this role)
- US / Canadian Data Privacy certification (CIPP/US or CIPP/C)
- Solid understanding of the software sales cycle, including supporting commercial processes and deadlines
- Customer-focused mindset, with the ability to build strong relationships across cross-functional teams and global regions/time zones
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while remaining independent, flexible, and responsive to stakeholders
- Familiarity with US Anti-trust law
- Advanced Law Degree (LL.M.)
