Role Overview – Virtual Testing & Simulation Quality Assurance Engineer

The Virtual Testing & Simulation QA Engineer is a critical bridge between product design, software development, and real‑world operations. You will design, develop, and execute high‑fidelity virtual platforms that emulate full‑scale solutions using real software stacks, hardware control loops, and material models. By partnering with product teams, manual QA, and internal customers—including Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Systems Engineering—you will ensure that every new solution meets rigorous quality, reliability, and sustainability standards before it ever touches a physical prototype.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain virtual test environments: Build simulation and Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop (HIL) frameworks that replicate end‑to‑end system behavior with real automation software, enabling rapid validation of hardware, control algorithms, and packaging materials.
• Drive quality assurance across the product lifecycle: Use virtual testing to verify functional performance, reliability, maintainability, training readiness, deployment feasibility, and integration with material handling equipment (MHE) before physical production.

• Identify, analyze, and resolve defects: Detect recurring bugs or performance gaps across multiple product lines, conduct root‑cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to engineering and operations teams.
• Collaborate with internal customers: Gather feedback from Operations, Robotics & Mechanical Engineering (RME), Advanced Control & Execution Systems (ACES), Process Engineering (PE), Operations Engineering (OpsEng), Worldwide Design (WWDE), and other key groups to refine simulation models and test criteria.
• Ensure regulatory compliance: Maintain adherence to federal, state, local, and corporate policies governing safety, environmental impact, and data security throughout the virtual testing process.
• Automate test execution: Create reusable test scripts, automation engines, and reporting dashboards that accelerate design‑of‑experiment (DOE) studies and enable continuous integration of virtual tests into the development pipeline.
• Mentor and support manual QA teams: Provide expertise and training to manual testers on interpreting virtual test results, validating simulation fidelity, and leveraging virtual models for rapid troubleshooting.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience working with large, cross‑functional engineering teams on modeling, simulation, testing, integration, or quality assurance for complex automation systems.
