ABOUT THE ROLE School of Education Adjunct Faculty – California Bilingual Authorization Program- Spanish position (Remote) Position Overview: University of Massachusetts Global’s Bilingual Authorization Program invites applications for an adjunct professor to teach remotely in the Spanish pathway of the Bilingual Authorization Teacher Education Program. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Spanish bilingual education, bilingual teacher preparation, biliteracy development, culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy, and the current context of California public schooling. This position is well suited for an experienced bilingual educator, teacher educator, instructional coach, or scholar-practitioner who is committed to preparing future bilingual teachers to serve multilingual learners, families, and communities. Key Responsibilities: Teach assigned courses in the Spanish California Bilingual Authorization program in an online format. Facilitate engaging, student-centered learning experiences for adult candidates preparing for bilingual authorization. Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, discussions, lesson designs, reflections, and performance-based assessments. Model effective professional practices in teaching and learning, including culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy, biliteracy development, and cross-linguistic transfer. Collaborate with program leadership and faculty to support course quality, candidate success, and continuous program improvement. Maintain regular communication with students and respond to student questions in a timely and professional manner. Participate in program-related meetings, training, or calibration activities as needed. Required Qualifications: Current knowledge of the content area related to bilingual education, Spanish-English bilingual instruction, biliteracy, language acquisition, and/or teacher education. Knowledge of the current context of public schooling, including California-adopted P-12 content standards, curriculum frameworks, and accountability systems. Knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation. Evidence of effective professional practices in teaching and learning, scholarship, and service. Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish and English. Experience teaching in bilingual, dual language, Spanish immersion, heritage language, or multilingual education settings. Strong communication, organization, and technology skills appropriate for online teaching. Commitment to equity, linguistic diversity, and the preparation of effective bilingual educators. Preferred Qualifications: A master’s degree or higher in bilingual education, Spanish, applied linguistics, language education, curriculum and instruction, TESOL, or a closely related field. Current or prior California teaching credential with Bilingual Authorization in Spanish. Experience teaching or supervising teacher candidates in higher education. Experience teaching online or asynchronous courses. Experience mentoring bilingual teacher candidates, student teachers, or practicing educators. Knowledge of Spanish-English biliteracy assessment, dual language program models, and family/community engagement in bilingual education. Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse school communities. Work Environment: A remote adjunct work environment is a flexible, virtual setting where instructors deliver course content, engage with students, and fulfill academic responsibilities from a remote location. This environment typically relies on digital communication tools, learning management systems (LMS), and virtual collaboration platforms to facilitate teaching and interaction. Compensation: The following salary range reflects compensation paid for a 3-unit course (101.25 hours) and varies based on the faculty member’s course assignment. 3-unit Lecture Course: The hiring range for this position is $3456.00 to $3856.00. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to; geographical location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
