[Remote] Water / Wastewater Supervising Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Gainesville Regional Utilities' Water/Wastewater Systems Engineering Department is currently seeking a Supervising Utility Engineer. This position involves coordinating utility engineers and technicians in various engineering projects related to water distribution and wastewater collection, including planning, design, and construction management.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating utility engineers and technicians in a variety of engineering projects including water distribution and wastewater collection pipeline planning
- Condition Assessment of Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection pipelines
- Design of Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, and Reclaimed Water pipeline projects
- Construction management and oversight of a wide variety of utility projects
- Coordination with various engineering consultants, agencies and contractors
- Developing annual work plans
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining an annual budget for rehabilitation and replacement of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water pipelines
- Preparation, review, and approval of engineering plans utilizing AutoCAD, specifications, and permits for water distribution and wastewater collection system projects
- Managing infrastructure rehabilitation programs, such as lining of gravity sewer mains and manholes, smoke testing, and integrity testing
- Significant coordination with internal departments, outside consultants, and contractors regarding construction, rehabilitation, or repair of water and sewer mains
- Supervising, coordinating, and training entry level and experienced engineers, technician, and other support personnel, including selection, promotion, discharge and other appropriate personnel actions
- Assisting in the coordination with City, County, and State agencies regarding planning, design, permitting and construction activities associated with water and wastewater utility relocation within public rights-of-way
Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited educational institution
- Eight (8) years of experience in the area of assigned engineering responsibility which includes a minimum of two (2) years of project management, lead or supervisory experience
- Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required
- Valid Engineering License issued by Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE)
- Proficient with MS Office Suite or equivalent required; knowledge of software utilized in the engineering discipline, proficiency as required by individual department
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Valid State of Florida Professional Engineer license preferred
- Experience with Civil 3D and ArcGIS preferred
