[Remote] Senior Data Scientist – Credit & Risk Analytics_ODL

FinacPlus is a Virtual Business Process Partner for global financial institutions and fintech companies, recognized for its collaborative culture and commitment to professional growth. They are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to support a UK-based fintech client by developing and validating credit risk models that enhance responsible lending and business outcomes. The role involves end-to-end ownership of model development, deployment, and governance, with a focus on leveraging diverse datasets for insightful decision-making.

Responsibilities

• You will take ownership of designing, developing, and continuously refining credit risk scorecards, loss forecasting models, and collections and behavioural models that materially influence portfolio strategy, risk appetite, and sustainable growth
• You will leverage a wide spectrum of internal and external datasets — including credit bureau data, loan performance data, and transactional and behavioural datasets — to generate deep, decision-grade insights that enhance underwriting precision and customer outcomes
• You will architect and deliver robust, production-ready solutions in Python, ensuring code quality, scalability, reproducibility, and alignment with enterprise engineering standards
• You will partner closely with Engineering teams to drive seamless model deployment, automation, and integration into real-time decisioning environments, ensuring operational resilience and performance efficiency
• You will play a key role in strengthening and optimizing automated loan decisioning systems, enhancing model sophistication while maintaining transparency, fairness, and regulatory alignment
• You will lead model monitoring, validation, governance, and performance oversight frameworks, proactively identifying drift, stability risks, and opportunities for recalibration
• You will conduct advanced exploratory data analysis and strategic feature engineering to uncover new risk drivers and unlock incremental portfolio value
• You will translate complex statistical outputs into clear, commercially meaningful narratives for senior stakeholders, enabling confident and informed business decisions
• You will collaborate with Credit, Pricing, and Operations leadership to ensure analytics initiatives are tightly aligned with strategic priorities and commercial objectives
• You will contribute to the evolution of scalable data science frameworks, best practices, documentation standards, and technical governance processes

Skills

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Data Science / Risk Analytics
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Solid command of SQL
• Advanced understanding of Regression & classification techniques
• Advanced understanding of Model validation & stability testing
• Advanced understanding of Performance metrics (AUC, KS, Gini, Precision/Recall, etc.)
• Advanced understanding of Bias/variance trade-offs and interpretability
• Experience deploying models into production environments
• Exposure to version control systems (Git)
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• Experience in credit risk / lending / financial services analytics strongly preferred
