[Remote] Lead Software Engineer - Direct Transactions

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. First Citizens Bank is seeking a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to provide technology solutions and integration services in Payments & Money movement, and information reporting. The role involves leading software development efforts, providing technical guidance, and ensuring optimal technology solutions to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop technical solutions that meet user needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability
• Provide development leadership (Architecture, Strategy, Design, Development) on our Client facing Payments platforms
• Drive department best practices, guidelines implementation and adhere to standards
• Innate desire to create a superlative developer experience down to the last detail
• Deep love of building elegant, maintainable, well-documented, secure code
• Abstracting and refactoring should be a passion, not a chore

• Drive technical designs to consensus and approval by Architecture Review Team. Design and develop enterprise solutions for specific business need that provide frameworks, interfaces and services that can be extended and reused for future requirements
• Perform impact analysis of proposed changes on existing architecture, capabilities, system priorities, and technology solutions; looks for additional solution options or trade-offs. Identifies cost/benefit implications of proposed solutions (e.g. people, processes, technology, strategy, finance)
• Creates and maintains application architecture and related assets. Be the go-to person for development team on architecture discussions. The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned
• Supervise release processes (some after-hours/weekend work may be required)

Skills

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer required
• Expert in Lambda & ECS (serverless + containers)
• Strong in Step Functions, SQS, SNS (event-driven systems)
• Experience with S3, DynamoDB & RDS (storage + databases)
• Proficient in KMS & IAM (security & access)
• Hands-on with AWS Transfer Family (SFTP)
• Skilled in Terraform (IaC)
• Experience with CloudWatch/X-Ray (monitoring)
• Experience with Docker & OpenShift (containers & orchestration)
• Strong in Java, Spring Boot & Node.js (backend development)
• Ability to build scalable, fault-tolerant architectures
