[Remote] Global Product Manager - Allergens
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Hygiena is a company that provides rapid microbiology diagnostic tests and solutions for food safety. They are seeking a Global Product Manager for Allergens to own the product vision and strategy, manage product lifecycle, and drive commercialization efforts in the allergen portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Own the global vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for the Allergen portfolio, grounded in market, customer, regulatory, and financial insights
- Develop business cases and portfolio recommendations, including opportunity sizing, volume and revenue projections, margin impact, required investment, and risk assessment
- Lead portfolio optimization, including gap analysis, line extensions, product rationalization, and end-of-life decisions in collaboration with regional and functional stakeholders
- Develop short-term (1–3 year) and in collaboration with Director Product Management long-term (5–10 year) portfolio plans meeting Hygiena's strategic and financial objectives
- Serve as the commercial lead in the Product Commercialization and Innovation Process, representing customer and market needs in cross-functional project teams
- Translate market requirements into clear product requirements, performance claims, validation and verification needs and launch criteria for new products and significant enhancements
- Partners with R&D, Program Management, Manufacturing, Applications, Software, Quality, Regulatory, and Finance from concept through development, validation, scale-up, and commercialization
- Define go-to-market strategy, value proposition, positioning, packaging, and pricing for new products and major releases; ensure launch readiness across regions and channels
- Contribute to and, where appropriate, lead internal project management for commercial workstreams, including timelines, milestones, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication
- Act as Product Steward for the Allergen portfolio, owning lifecycle management and ensuring product quality, compliance, labeling, and documentation remain current
- Identify and drive cost optimization, reformulation, and continuous improvement initiatives while protecting product performance and customer value
- Partner with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and Customer Service to manage product changes, advisory notices, allocations, and obsolescence in a customer-centric manner
- Lead portfolio reviews, including performance analysis, pipeline status, rationalization candidates, and investment trade-offs
- Work with Marketing to define the go-to-market strategy, target segments, and key messages for the Allergen portfolio
- Develop and maintain sales enablement tools (presentations, battlecards, objection-handling guides, competitive positioning, ROI tools, application notes, digital content) tailored to priority personas and regions
- Train global sales, technical sales, distributors, and customer-facing teams on portfolio value, positioning, key differentiators, and competitive responses
- Support key customer engagements, demonstrations, evaluations, and contract negotiations as the commercial and product subject-matter expert
- Partner with Marketing to design and measure campaigns and programs that drive awareness, trial, adoption, and share gain in target segments
- Develop deep understanding of buyer and user personas (e.g., QA managers, lab managers, grain and feed operators, auditors) and document their workflows, jobs-to-be-done, and buying processes
- Plan and execute Voice of Market (VOM) activities, including customer interviews, field visits, surveys, and conference participation, to identify and validate unmet needs
- Monitor global trends in food and feed safety, regulations, sampling and testing practices, and technologies specific to allergens, and translate insights into actionable requirements
- Maintain and communicate structured market models for priority segments, including size, growth, share, pricing corridors, and key competitors
- Own the competitive intelligence process for the Allergen category, ensuring up-to-date visibility of competitor offerings, claims, pricing, and positioning
- Establish and maintain tools and processes that enable sales teams to access and contribute competitive insights and win/loss learnings
- Determine global list pricing, discount guidance, and regional pricing corridors in collaboration with Sales, Finance, and regional teams to meet growth and margin objectives
- Support pricing strategy decisions, including value-based pricing, promotional constructs, and contract structures for key accounts and partners
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (e.g., revenue, gross margin, average selling price, new product adoption, share, on-time launch, forecast accuracy, NPS) for the portfolio
- Use data from CRM, ERP, and market sources to diagnose performance drivers, identify risks and opportunities, and prioritize actions
- Prepare and present clear, data-driven portfolio reviews, business cases, and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with organizational systems, programs, policies, procedures, and relevant legal and regulatory mandates; seek guidance as necessary
- Actively support and participate in the safety program, both for self-protection and the protection of other employees
- Carry out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner
- Fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and in a safe manner
- Handle other duties as assigned by leadership
- Support evaluation of collaborations, licensing, OEM, and M&A opportunities relevant to the Allergen portfolio, including commercial due diligence and opportunity sizing
- Serve as a key interface between Hygiena and strategic partners where appropriate, helping to define joint value propositions, roadmaps, and success metrics
- Contribute to integration plans and post-deal product and portfolio decisions to maximize value realization
Skills
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, Biochemistry or a related scientific field required
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required that includes the following:
- Minimum of 2 years commercial experience in product management, strategic product marketing, or project management of food safety tests in a B2B environment with a strong track record of achievement
- Minimum of 2 years contributing to food safety strategy and execution or heading up a food testing lab working extensively with Allergens
- Demonstrated track record of achievement built from market/ customer focused knowledge, marketing concepts and practices
- Demonstrated Product Development and Launch experience from ideation through commercialization as well as product rationalization
- Demonstrated Networking
- Demonstrated success of working, leading and influencing in a global matrix environment and cross functional teams
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat required
- MBA strongly preferred
- PowerBI experience is a plus
