School Performance Data Manager
Ascend Schools is Brooklyn’s premier K–12 public charter network, dedicated to preparing students for successful futures. The School Performance Data Manager will oversee the management of assessment and grading systems, ensuring data quality and effective use of assessment tools to inform instructional decisions.
Responsibilities
- Manages day-to-day data and assessment operations, including monitoring Ascend’s assessment and grading systems, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and reliability
- Manage and support data ticket requests with a high level of accuracy and responsiveness
- Gather and analyze basic data to support decision making, including identifying areas of risk or inefficiencies in assessment set up and grading completion
- Maintain and update internal documentation, including training decks and user guides
- Training schools and other network team members on our data and assessment platforms
- Support cyclical data management and reporting processes as defined by the Director of School Performance & Analytics
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1-2 years of experience, preferably in an education or tech setting
- Experience with assessment and grading platforms, K-12 student information systems, or general data management systems
- Intermediate Google Sheets or Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Proven commitment to maintaining data accuracy and integrity
- Meticulous problem-solving and investigative skills, with the ability to identify root cause and propose solutions
- Initiative and adaptability in navigating evolving systems and priorities
- Committed to continuous learning and eager to expand skills and knowledge
- Willingness to try, test, and ask questions to prevent data errors and improve processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with focus and flexibility in a dynamic, evolving organizational setting
- Strong organization and communication skills, with an ability to clearly summarize trends or issues for diverse audiences
- Basic familiarity with SQL or Tableau helpful but not required
