<p>Position: Senior Software Engineer</p> <p>Location: Remote (Canada)</p> <p>Job Type: Full-time</p> <p>Work Schedule: 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM PST</p> <p>Base Salary: CAD $150,000 per year</p> <p><strong>Role Overview:</strong></p> <p>Were looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and evolve large-scale backend systems used by real customers in production.</p> <p>In this role, youll be trusted to think at the system and architecture level, design critical backend components, and implement large portions of those designs while guiding other developers through execution.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul><li>Design, implement, and evolve backend systems that power data-heavy, production products.</li><li>Lead architectural improvements to existing systems (e.g., redesigning market feeds, crawlers, APIs, or data pipelines).</li><li>Build systems from scratch that go into production, are used by real users, and are maintained over time.</li><li>Take ownership of major backend initiatives from design, implementation, rollout to long-term support.</li><li>Write and maintain scalable APIs and backend services used at meaningful scale.</li><li>Help break down complex designs into executable components and delegate effectively when working with other developers.</li><li>Support and improve live production systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability.</li><li>Collaborate closely with leadership and senior engineers on technical direction.</li><li>Mentor other developers through code reviews, design discussions, and best practices.</li></ul> <p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p> <ul><li>5+ years of professional software engineering or architectural experience (or equivalent depth).</li><li>A proven track record of building backend systems from scratch that were launched into production, used by real users, and were supported and evolved over time.</li><li>Experience designing and supporting APIs or backend systems at scale.</li><li>Strong systems thinking — you can reason about performance, failure modes, scaling, and long-term maintainability.</li><li>Experience working in startup or startup-like environments, or owning major systems within larger companies.</li><li>Comfort working autonomously and making high-impact technical decisions.</li><li>Python experience is a plus, but not required.</li><li>Proficient in AI-assisted development tools and workflows (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, code-generation and review tools) to improve productivity, code quality, and system design.</li></ul> <p><strong>Nice to Have:</strong></p> <ul><li>Experience redesigning or evolving legacy systems.</li><li>Background in data-heavy systems (crawlers, feeds, ingestion pipelines, analytics backends).</li><li>Infrastructure or scaling experience (high-throughput systems, reliability, performance tuning).</li><li>Prior experience mentoring senior or mid-level developers.</li></ul> <p><strong>Benefits & Perks:</strong></p> <ul><li>Fully Remote Work – Work from anywhere with a reliable internet connection</li><li>Healthcare Coverage – We provide health benefits for you and your familys well-being</li><li>Leave Days, Vacation Time, and Paid Holidays – Recharge and take the time you need</li><li>Equipment Funds – Get support to set up or upgrade your home office</li><li>Profit Sharing – Monthly and annual bonuses tied to company performance</li><li>Long-Term Employment – We value team members who grow with us</li><li>Collaborative Team Culture – Work with a supportive and globally distributed team</li></ul> <p><strong>About Us:</strong></p> <p>AutoScale Ventures is a technology-driven company with 50+ team members across the Philippines, Pakistan, India, the U.S., China, and Canada.
