Our proprietary bidding and audience targeting technology gives us greater control and insights into the buying process, enabling a high-touch, transparent customer experience. <h2 style="margin-top: 18pt; margin-bottom: 6pt;">Role Overview</h2> JamLoop is seeking a Python API Developer to own and evolve our internal Django API routes while building reliable, elegant backend systems that power teams across the company. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who thinks strategically and obsessively about API design: shaping internal services, improving developer and user experience, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable systems. You will take end-to-end ownership of our internal Django APIs, from architecture and implementation to performance, reliability, and long-term health. The ideal candidate brings deep Python and Django expertise, strong backend engineering instincts, and a genuine love for clean API design and well-structured application logic. You are the kind of developer who cannot stop thinking about Django, its routes, views, serializers, models, permissions, and all the small details that make an internal platform feel fast, intuitive, and robust. You will serve as the go-to owner for our internal API layer while helping drive best practices in code quality, system design, and backend craftsmanship across the business. <h3 style="margin-top: 16pt; margin-bottom: 4pt;">Responsibilities - Django API Champion</h3> <ul style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding-inline-start: 48px;"> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Own the design, development, and long-term maintenance of internal Django API routes and services. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Build clean, scalable Python backend systems that support internal tools, workflows, and cross-functional business needs. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Define and enforce best practices for Django architecture, API design, authentication, permissions, and versioning. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Partner with product, operations, and engineering teams to translate business needs into reliable internal APIs. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Improve the performance, reliability, and observability of internal Django services and endpoints. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Write well-tested, maintainable code across views, serializers, models, services, and supporting infrastructure. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Debug complex backend issues and drive root-cause fixes across internal systems. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Manage and optimize integrations between Django services and internal or third-party platforms. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Maintain clear documentation for internal API behavior, data models, and developer workflows. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Help establish standards for code quality, review practices, and backend development patterns across the team. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Proactively identify opportunities to simplify systems, reduce technical debt, and improve developer experience. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Champion thoughtful backend craftsmanship with a deep enthusiasm for Django and Python development. </li> </ul> <h3 style="margin-top: 16pt; margin-bottom: 4pt;">What We’re Looking For</h3> <ul style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding-inline-start: 48px;"> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> 5+ years of experience building backend applications and APIs in Python, with deep hands-on expertise in Django. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Strong experience designing, owning, and maintaining RESTful API routes and internal service architectures. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Proven ability to work comfortably across Django views, serializers, models, permissions, middleware, and background job patterns. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Experience working with Redis for caching, task queues, rate limiting, or other backend performance and reliability use cases. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Hands-on experience building and operating applications in AWS environments. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, and secure backend development practices. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Experience writing automated tests and building maintainable, well-structured production code. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with engineers and internal stakeholders to build practical, scalable internal systems. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Strong sense of ownership and pride in building clean, reliable backend systems with excellent developer ergonomics. </li> </ul> <h3 style="margin-top: 16pt; margin-bottom: 4pt;">Nice to Have</h3> <ul style="margin-top: 0px; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Familiarity with asynchronous processing, job queues, and event-driven backend patterns. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Experience improving observability through logging, metrics, and tracing. </li> <li style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> Exposure to containerized deployments, CI/CD workflows, and infrastructure-aware backend development. </li> </ul> Compensation Range: $125,000 - $160,000 a year The compensation for this position will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
